What Is Quordle?
Quordle is a word puzzle that challenges you to solve four five-letter words simultaneously in just 9 guesses. Every word you type appears on all four grids, with separate color feedback for each board. It's the most popular Wordle variant, with over 500,000 daily players.
The game was created by Freddie Meyer in January 2022, based on a prototype built by engineer David Mah. Meyer had been playing Dordle (the 2-word variant) and wanted a bigger challenge. The Guardian featured Quordle within days of launch, and it hit a million players within two months.
Merriam-Webster acquired Quordle on January 22, 2023. The game remains free to play on their website, with new daily puzzles released every day. Since the acquisition, they've added features like stats tracking and a hard mode.
How to Use the Quordle Solver
Our solver works for each Quordle board individually. Use it for the boards giving you the most trouble:
- Pick a board: Choose which of the 4 Quordle boards you need help with.
- Enter green letters: Type letters that turned green on that board in their exact positions.
- Enter yellow letters: Type letters that turned yellow on that board. The solver finds all words containing them.
- Enter gray letters: Type letters that turned gray on that board to exclude them.
- Pick a word that helps multiple boards: Matching words appear on this page. Choose a guess that also helps your other unsolved boards.
Worked example: After guessing SLATE, Board 1 shows S green (position 1) and E green (position 5). Board 3 shows A yellow and T yellow. Enter S in position 1 and E in position 5 for Board 1 to see words like SHINE, STOVE, or SURGE. Then enter A and T as yellow letters for Board 3 to narrow that board down separately.

Use Your First 2-3 Guesses as Scouts
Don't try to solve any board early. Your opening guesses should gather maximum data across all 4 boards. Ideal: your first 3 guesses test 15 unique letters. Try SLATE, then CRONY, then HUMID. Solve the "Almost Done" Boards First
After 2-3 scouting guesses, some boards will have 3 or 4 green letters. Solve these immediately. Each board you close is one less distraction, and it frees up mental bandwidth for the harder ones.
Don't Waste Guesses on Wild Swings
With only 9 guesses for 4 boards, every guess must serve a purpose. If you can't confidently solve a board, make a guess that helps multiple boards instead. A strategic "information guess" beats a lucky shot that misses.
The Endgame Squeeze
If you've solved 2 boards and have 3 guesses left for 2 remaining boards, you need to solve one board per guess. This is where the solver helps most. It eliminates impossible words so you can guess with confidence rather than crossing your fingers.
Track Your Guesses Mentally
The biggest mistake in Quordle is losing count. After 3 scouting guesses, you've got 6 left for 4 boards. After solving one more board, you've got 5 left for 3. Quordle Game Modes
Quordle offers two main modes, and our solver works for both.
Daily Quordle
The standard mode. A new puzzle every day with 4 words and 9 guesses. All 4 boards are active from the start, and you get feedback on every board with each guess. This is what most players mean when they say "Quordle."
Daily Sequence
Same 4 words, but you solve them one at a time. You get 10 guesses total instead of 9. The catch? You don't see feedback for the next puzzle until you solve (or fail) the current one. It's a different kind of challenge that rewards word-by-word focus over multi-board strategy.
